10 tips to look like a newbie on twitter
Just joined twitter? Make sure to stand out as the n00b you are with these simple tips.
1. Get the default avatar. Twitter made it in all the colors of the rainbow, so why go to the trouble of looking like an individual?
2. Link to your twitter page in your bio. Endless loops are awesome.
3. Speak in the third-person. It gives the right amount of “I am only here to talk to myself” to your tweets.
4. Beg people to follow you. Nothing is more attractive than whining about having no friends.
5. Be wary of new followers. Just because others want to meet new people on twitter, doesn’t mean that you have to.
6. Give twitter helpful hints on improvement. It shows you’re “in the know.”
7. Complain about what twitter isn’t designed to do. It’s just natural to want twitter to work like a completely different program.
8. Follow Friday yourself. Nothing says “I’m interesting” quite as clearly as a big ego.
9 & 10.Once you’ve mastered the first 8 tips, we’re pretty sure you can come up with a couple of your own. Don’t let us down.
Dog Daze
Summer is winding down, and one thing we wanted to do before summer ends is get a puppy. So we did. Isn’t she adorable? We will not, however, be creating a twitter account for her, no matter how much she begs.
Of course, other people have given into such demands. Here’s a few of the dogs who have anywhere from several hundred, to several thousand followers on twitter:
Weird as we think it is for people to follow real dogs on twitter, it’s nowhere near as weird as the people following this dog:
We’ve been trying to come up with a punch line, but what could be funnier than a man in a mullet and leather who believes his own hype? Too harsh? Watch the show and get back to us. If you aren’t at least chuckling at the caricatures on the screen, we don’t understand you at all.

Wingardium Leviosa
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was released in US theaters this week. The Fail Bird is a fan, so we’ll be attending the show with a small group of our equally-geeky friends. This week’s Friday Photo Fun introduces you to the Harry Potter stars on twitter. Surprisingly, or maybe not, there are not very many of them.
We believe the owners of these accounts are legit, but since none are linked to a live webcam, your guess is as good as ours.

Happy Independence Day, America!
The Fourth of July is our day to celebrate the freedom we take for granted. While every family celebrates other holidays of the year in ways as diverse as the population of our Great Country, July Fourth is the one day we share a common tradition. For one day, everyone is proud to be an American as we wave the Stars and Stripes, picnic, barbeque, play in the sun, and later, watch fireworks – the candles on our nation’s birthday cake.

Some people have paid a high price for our freedom. We’re thankful for the active and retired military who are fighting now, and have fought for us in the past. We’re going to find every veteran we know and thank them for helping to preserve the rights and privileges we hold dear.
We hope you’ll copy us, and while you’re at it, thank a Military Mom or Wife for serving at home.
For those who want to take issue with our Pride in America the Beautiful, we’ll share a quote from John Rich (of Big & Rich) “If you don’t love America why don’t you get the hell out!” We agree.
